Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his parents and commitment in the local community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. On the football field, he competed with three of his brothers from Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. For 1973 Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the national by Outland as well as Lombardi. Outland Awards. Through his three seasons as Oklahoma's first lineman The Sooners finished 32-1-1 and captured two championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree of Education. Fourth year of the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After college he settled in Tampa where he played nine years with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times, before beginning a new business career. In 1988 he became an account manager for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He as well worked for the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of the most outstanding American young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. He was named assistant director of Athletics for the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. He was also named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
